switch set to A TIM E, two intensified zones are displayed
on the crt. The intensified zones consist o f a reference
point (moved by rotating the B DELAY TIME POSITION
control) and a measurement point (moved by rotating the
A TIM E POSITION control). The time difference between
the reference point and the measurement point is displayed
on the LCD readout. The following procedures describe
how these measurements are accomplished.
Time Duration
1. Preset instrument controls and obtain a Normal
Sweep Display.
2. Apply the signal to either vertical-channel input
connector and set the V E R TIC A L MODE switch to display
the channel used.
3. Set the appropriate VO LTS/D IV switch to produce
a display o f approximately 5 divisions in amplitude and
center the display.
4. Select the A INTEN HORIZ MODE and set the
A SEC/DIV switch to a sweep speed that displays the
entire portion o f the waveform fo r which time duration is
to be measured.
5. For the most accurate measurements, set the B SEC/
D IV switch to the fastest sweep speed that provides a
usable (visible) intensified zone.
6.
Adjust the B DELAY TIME POSITION control to
move the start o f the reference point so that it just touches
the intersection o f the signal and the center horizontal
graticule line (see Figure 24A, Point A).
7. Adjust the A TIME POSITION control to move the
start o f the measurement point along the center horizontal
graticule line to the beginning o f the next waveform cycle
(see Figure 24A, Point B).
8. Press in the B HORIZ MODE push button and adjust
the A TIME POSITION control to superimpose the wave
forms as shown in Figure 24B.
9. Read the time duration (or waveform period) on the
LCD readout.
Rise Time
Rise-time measurements use the same methods as time
duration, except that the measurements are made between
