Was “Engine Diag. Flow Table” performed?
Go to Step 2.
Go to “Engine Diag. Flow
Table”.

TP Sensor Signal check :
1) Remove ECM (PCM) cover.
2) Start engine and warm up for normal oper-
ating temperature then stop engine.
3) With ignition switch ON leaving engine stop,
check voltage between C51-3-12 and C51-
3-20.
TP sensor output signal circuit resistance
Fully close : 0.35 – 0.65 V
Fully open : 3.5 – 4.5 V
Is check result as specified?
Go to Step 3.
Go to Step 4.

Air Intake System inspection :
1) Check air intake system for clog and air
inhabit.
Is air intake system in good condition?
Substitute a known-good
ECM (PCM) and recheck.
Repair or replace.

TP Sensor Performance check :
1) Check “TP Sensor” referring to Section 6E2.
Is check result as specified?
Go to Step 5.
Faulty TP sensor.

TP Sensor Reference Voltage check :
1) With ignition switch OFF, disconnect TP
sensor coupler.
2) With ignition switch ON, check voltage
between “GRY/RED” wire terminal of TP
sensor coupler and ground.
Is the voltage 4.5 – 5.5 V?
Go to Step 6.
Faulty “GRY/RED” wire.
If OK, substitute a known-
good ECM (PCM) and
recheck.

TP Sensor Ground Circuit check :
1) Check continuity between “GRY/YEL” wire
terminal of TP sensor coupler and ground.
Is continuity in good condition?
Go to Step 7.
Faulty “GRY/YEL” wire.
If OK, substitute a known-
good ECM (PCM) and
recheck.

TP Sensor Installation check :
1) Check “TP Sensor” installation referring to
Section 6E2.
Is TP sensor installation as specified?
Substitute a known-good
ECM (PCM) and recheck.
Adjust TP sensor referring
to “TP Sensor” in Section
6E2 and recheck.
