Setting the IP Address for Ethernet Port 1

Use the Blade Operator Panel
Note:
You can set the IP address for Ethernet port 1 using the operator
panel on any blade. You can also use the VTL Console to set the IP
address (see
Use the VTL Console on page 44).
1.
Identify an available IP address on your network that can be used to access the
nTier700 VTL through a standard web browser. Make a note of the Subnet Mask
and Gateway for that IP address.
2.
Using the
<
button on the operator panel, select the IP
icon (a blue globe) at the bottom of the display. The
screen changes to show the current IP address
information, with DHCP displayed in the top right
corner of the screen. If the nTier700 VTL was not able
to obtain an IP address, it uses 0.0.0.0 for the IP
address.
Note:
If your network uses DHCP, the IP address,
along with the Subnet and Gateway
addresses will display on the IP
Configuration screen.
3. Change the IP addressing to STATIC.
a.
From the IP Configuration screen, press
O
to
change from display mode to edit mode.
A new layer of tabs displays at the bottom of the
screen. Each tab relates to one of the fields on the
IP Configuration screen.
b.
Press
O
to toggle from DHCP to STATIC.
c. To accept STATIC, use the
>
button to move to the

, then press
O
to apply your change. To cancel
the change, use
<
to move to the
X
, then press
O
.
Note:
If you toggle from STATIC and then back to DHCP and then accept
the change, you cannot edit the remaining fields, since the DHCP
server assigns those values.
