Inspection

Replace crankshaft if the gears are worn or other-
wise damaged.

1. Balancer gear
2. Crankshaft timing gear

Connecting Rod Big End Axial Play

Using a feeler gauge, measure distance between
butting face of connecting rod and crankshaft
counterweight. If the distance exceeds specified
tolerance, replace the worn part.

1. Crankshaft
2. Feeler gauge

Crankshaft Radial Play 

Measure all crankshaft journals. Compare to inside
diameter of crankshaft bushings (elsewhere in this
section).

1. Micrometer
2. Crankshaft area for bushing
