Liquid Crystal Display Controller (LCDC)
20.1
Overall Description
20.1.1
Introduction
The LCD-TFT (Liquid Crystal Display - Thin Film Transistor) display controller provides a parallel digital 8080/RGB (Red, Green, Blue), signals for
horizontal and vertical synchronization, pixel clock and data enable as output to interface directly to a variety of LCD and TFT panels.
The LCD Controller (LCDC) is used to fetch image data from RAM and output it to LCD panel. LCDC also supports LED dot matrix display. The
display consists of a dot matrix of lights or mechanical indicators arranged in a rectangular configuration such that by switching on or off
selected lights, text or graphics can be displayed. A dot matrix controller converts instructions from a processor into signals which turns on or
off lights in the matrix so that the required display is produced.
