CPC324 Functional Blocks

The I2C1 also has a unique feature that allows it to isolate itself from the parts of the entire
local I2C bus. This is done primarily to enable the Zircon UL to operate and perform the PM
function while the main part of the PCB is in a powered down or failed mode. The isolation
mechanism is controlled by the PMENLINK# signal. When the link is enabled, the entire local
I2C bus is available to the Zircon UL. When the link is disabled, the Zircon UL, the control
peripherals, the sensors, and other PM specific devices are isolated from the main blade but
still available to one another.
ADM1026 Peripheral and Management Controller
The ADM1026 is an I2C based device that controls and monitors several PCB level functions
typically found on embedded controllers and server motherboards. These general-purpose
functions used to be done by discrete logic or low integrated devices. The type of functions and
the information gathered by the monitor is used by the system level managers to determine the
physical state and general health of the embedded controller.
Among the functions integrated into the device are:
•
Up to 19 analog measurement channels (including internal measurements)
•
Up to eight fan speed measurement channels
•
Up to 17 general purpose logic I/O pins
•
Remote temperature measurement with remote diode (two channels)
•
On-chip temperature sensor
•
Analog and PWM fan speed control outputs
•
2-wire serial system management bus (IPMBus)
•
8 KB on-chip EEPROM
•
Full IPMBus 1.1 support including Packet Error Checking (PEC)
•
Chassis intrusion detection
•
Interrupt output (SMBAlert)
•
Reset input, reset outputs
•
Thermal interrupt (THERM) output
•
Limit comparison of all monitored values
ADM1026 I2C Address
The ADM1026 has the ADD pin pulled low. This forces the device to be I2C address 0x58.
