Chapter 2: Introduction

H.110 Switch
The CPC324 uses the Zarlink MT90866 to connect the various time domain multiplexed (TDM)
interface streams together. It has local side connections to the on-board multichannel
communications controller (Mindspeed MUSYCC CN8478), both on-board PTMC slots and the
three IDT octal framers. Its backplane connection is to the 32-bit H.110 CT bus.
General Specifications
The MT90866 digital switch provides switching capacities of 4,096 x 2,432 channels between
the H.110 bus backplane and local streams, 2,432 x 2,432 channels among local streams and
2,048 x 2,048 channels among backplane streams. The local connected serial inputs and
outputs have 128 64 kb/s channels per frame with a data rate of 8.192 Mb/s. The backplane
connected serial inputs and outputs have 128 64 kb/s channels per frame with a data rate of
8.192 Mb/s. The device has features that are programmable on a per-stream or per-channel
basis, including message mode, input delay offset, output advancement offset, direction
control, and high impedance output control.
On the CPC324 the MT90866 switch connects to the IDT 82P2288 framers local side TDM
bus, the mindspeed multichannel communications controllers TDM connections, and the CPLD
TDM mux, which ultimately allow both PTMC slots to have a flexible TDM I/O connection. The
MT90866 TDM switch is also the CPC324’s connection to the J4 CompactPCI CT bus (H.110).
