Chapter 3: Getting Started

Caution:
Avoid touching areas of integrated circuitry. Static discharge can damage these circuits.
System Requirements
Rear Access
In a rear access configuration, the CPC324 is installed in the front of the card cage and an
RTM324 is installed in the rear part of the card cage. For more information about the RTM, see
Chapter 6, “Rear Transition Module,” on page 97
.
Environmental Requirements
Operating: 0° to 50° C (32° to 122° F)
Non-operating: -20° to 80° C (-4° to 176° F)
Power Requirements
The typical power consumption of the CPC324 (without a PTMC module installed) is shown in
Table 3-1, “Blade Power Consumption,”
below.
With 200 LFM cooling, each PTMC mezzanine slot can accommodate 15 W or a total of 30 W
for both slots. This value is added to the base blade’s 25.1 W, for total power dissipation of
55.1 W maximum.
Switches
The CPC324 incorporates five switch banks, SW1-SW5, for configuring blade options. The
following topics present the five switch banks in numerical order and provide a detailed
description of each switch setting. Each switch in the switch banks are identified in the form
SWx-N, where x is the switch bank and -N is the switch number (for example, SW2-3 means
"switch bank 2, switch number 3").
See
Figure 3-1, “CPC324 Switch Locations,” on page 59
for switch locations.
