18. Modbus communication
It is possible to integrate the heat pump into a building man-
agement system or a smart home system such as LOXON.
Modbus communication is activated during commissioning
by OCHSNER customer service or by a customer service
partner authorised by OCHSNER.
Note
Details on Modbus communication (data point list,
addressing, etc.) can be found in the following doc-
ument: ZBH-Modbus OTS.
18.1 Integration
There are various integration strategies for integrating the
heat pump via a Modbus interface.
Initial question
Suitable strategy
Do you want to control your heat
sink system yourself, i.e. via an
external control unit?
Control via building manage-
ment system
Does your smart home system
have integral room sensors
that you want to link to the heat
pump?
Transfer of information to the
heat pump
Do you want to use heat pump
information via a Modbus inter-
face?
Transfer of information to the
building management system
Note
If you are unsure which strategy is right for you,
please contact an expert with appropriate special-
ised knowledge.
18.1.1 Control via building management system
The heat sink system is controlled entirely via a building
management system.
The handover interface for system responsibility is hydrau-
lic separation. We assume no responsibility for faults that
occur after hydraulic separation.
Required information
For control via the building management system, informa-
tion must be transferred to the heat pump.
Heating circuits:
►
Target heating/cooling
►
Status: Heating/Cooling/Off
DHW circuits:
►
Target DHW temperature
►
Switch-ON differential
►
Status: Off/On
Display on the heat pump
If a building management system is used for control, all
standard main screens are no longer displayed. Only es-
sential settings are still possible on the user interface/app.
The following information is displayed on the user interface:
►
Status of heat pump
►
Information communicated by the building manage-
ment system
►
Flow temperature at the flow temperature sensor
►
DHW temperature at the DHW temperature sensor
18.1.2 Transfer of information to the heat pump
The building management system sends information to the
heat pump. The heat pump regulates the heat sink system
using this information.
The following information can be sent to the heat pump via
Modbus communication:
►
Room temperature
►
Relative humidity
18.1.3 Transfer of information to the building
management system
The heat pump sends information to the building manage-
ment system. This may be output via a suitable external
interface.
19. Standby protection
If the heat generator pump is inactive for 24 hours, it will be
started for 20 seconds by the standby protection function.
This prevents the heat generator pump from seizing up.
