• When using the EV priority mode is limited
to protect the Plug-in Hybrid EV System.
 While the following message is displayed in
the multi information display, the EV prior-
ity mode cannot be used even if the EV
switch is pressed, a buzzer will sound.
 If you select warm air with the air condi-
tioner switch during driving in the EV prior-
ity mode, the message will appear in the
multi information display.
 In any of the situations listed below, the EV
priority mode will be automatically can-
celled and the message will appear in the
multi information display.
NOTE
• When the remaining power in the drive bat-
tery becomes low.
Charge the drive battery.
• When the vehicle speed of the cruise con-
trol or the ACC is set.
If you want to use the EV priority mode,
cancel the cruise control or the ACC.
• When the drive battery temperature
becomes too cold.
• When the protecting device of the Plug-in
Hybrid EV System is operated.
NOTE
 If the EV switch is pressed during the heat-
ing of the air conditioner, the message will
appear in the multi information display.
 When the SAVE/CHARGE mode switch or
the SPORT mode switch is pressed while
driving in the EV priority mode, the mode
changes to the selected mode.
If the EV switch is pressed, the mode is
returned to the EV priority mode.
However, the mode may not return to the EV
priority mode depending on the remaining
power in the drive battery.
 In any of the situations listed below, the EV
priority mode continues even if the engine is
automatically started.
• When the accelerator pedal is fully
depressed.
• When the vehicle speed is over 130 km/h.
• When the demister switch is pressed.
 If the ambient temperature is low, the engine
may start for heating when the Plug-in
Hybrid EV system is started with air condi-
tioner performed.
If you want to stop the engine running, select
the EV priority mode with the operation
mode of the power switch in ON before start-
ing the Plug-in Hybrid EV system.
