Unified Messaging Open Standards Edition
The Inter-Tel 5000 v2.4 system supports Unified Messaging Open Standards Edition (OSE), a
client-free Unified Messaging distribution for the Inter-Tel Enterprise Messaging (EM) voice
messaging server. EM v1.2 is being released in May 2008. Refer to the
Enterprise Messaging
Installation Manual
Issue 1.1 (part no. 780.8006), Revised February 2008 for more information.
Also, refer to the
Addendum to the Issue 1.1 Inter-Tel Enterprise Messaging Installation Manual
For Version 1.2 Software,
(part no. 780.8007). Check for the latest service packs on the Inter-

Unlike previous Unified Messaging products from Inter-Tel, users do not have to install a special
Unified Messaging client application on their desktop Personal Computer (PC) to view, play, and
manage voice mail messages. With Unified Messaging OSE, the e-mail client can be any
Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) v4 compliant client that is configured to connect to
the IMAP Server located on EM. The latest version of Unified Messaging OSE v2.0 is now
available. For details, refer
to
the
Unified Messaging OSE Administrator’s Guide
(document part
no. 835.3162). For infomation about DB Programming changes to support v2.0, refer to the
Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide
(part no: 580.8006).
Knowledge Base Article: Port Information (KB2377)
The following is a summary of KB article 2377:
With the release of software version 1.1.X.XXX, NAT functionality was implemented into
the Inter-Tel
®
5000.
We advise a one to one static NAT (all traffic to/from the public to the private address is
forwarded unchanged). If you wish to open only specific ports to the private IP address
then these are the necessary ports:
o
5566 TCP
o
5567 UDP
o
6004 - 6247 UDP
In the 2.0.x.xxx software release the number of total IP endpoints was increased, the UDP
port range used by the system also has increased as below. The functionality and
programming of the system as far as NAT is concerned has not changed though.
o
5566 TCP
o
5567 UDP
o
6004 - 6604 UDP for 5200 systems
o
6004 - 7039 UDP for 5400 and 5600 systems
o
Processor Module (PM-1) base port – 6004
o
Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1) base port – 6604
5600 systems should be treated as 5400 systems as far as NAT is concerned. You will
need IP addresses for both the PM-1 and PEC-1. See KB 3352 for further details on
connecting IP devices to 5600 systems.
