To remove a processor module (PM-1):
1. Use the LCD panel on the front of the chassis to shut down the system.
2. Unplug the chassis power cord from the power source.
3. Loosen the fastener at the top of the module (this fastener secures the module to the
chassis).
4. Using a properly terminated, anti-static wrist strap, remove the module from the chassis
and place it into the anti-static bag that came with the module.
Installing a Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1)
A Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1) provides additional IP resources. By installing a PEC-1
on a PM-1 and adding applicable licensing, you create the Inter-Tel CS-5400 platform. Some
features are provided through software instead of hardware. These module types (both
hardware and software) are discussed in this section. See the
Specifications and Product
Description chapters for additional information about modules.
With the exception of the processor module (PM-1), the other modules can be installed in any
bay. However, if a module was programmed while in one bay, it will need to be reprogrammed if
moved to another bay.
The optional processor expansion card kit, part no. 580.9004, provides additional IP resources.
It is standard equipment in the Inter-Tel CS-5400 chassis. However, you can upgrade the Inter-
Tel CS-5200 chassis to a CS-5400 by installing the processor expansion card. See the
Specifications and Product Description chapters for PEC-1 details. See the Product Description
chapter for further information on any additional licensing you may need to take advantage of
PEC-1 capabilities.
The processor expansion card (PEC-1) includes the necessary hardware to mount it to the
processor module in a Inter-Tel CS-5200 system. There is no software needed for the upgrade;
all necessary software is already included on the existing compact flash. A CD is provided with
the upgrade so that a backup copy of all necessary software is readily available should it be
needed.
NOTICE
Equipment Damage Hazard . Use the LCD panel to shut down the system, and
unplug all power sources to the chassis before working with the processor module
(PM-1). Replacing or inserting a processor module with AC power turned on to the
chassis will damage the processor module. A processor module damaged in this
manner will
not be replaced under warranty.
NOTICE
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) . The modules and components are static-sensitive. Handle
the modules by the edges only and keep them in their protective bags until they are to be
installed. Do not bend or touch the component pins or subject them to a static discharge.
When working with the modules, use a properly terminated anti-static wrist strap and cover
the work surface with the bag that protected the module during shipping. Any static charge
(no matter how small) must be discharged from the body before touching the modules or
other components. The warranty for this equipment does not cover damage caused by static
or mishandling. Modules or components damaged in such a manner will
not be replaced
under warranty.
