Power over Ethernet (PoE)
hub
(LAN Jack)
: The Red Hawk PowerSense™
modular, in-line PoE hubs (for multi-port) are available through the Inter-Tel
CommSource
®
division. The power hub provides power to IP devices without the
use of an external power supply for each device. For details, see the
Red Hawk
PowerSense Power over Ethernet Installation Manual
, part no. 935.0400.
a.)
Pug one end into the LAN/POWER (RJ-45) jack on the IP device.
b.)
Plug the other end of the cable into the POWER/DATA (RJ-45) jack on the
PoE connector.
•
Universal Power Supply using a Barrel Jack:
a.)
Using CAT5 or better cable, connect the LAN/POWER jack on the baseplate
directly into the network. Do not connect this cable to the PC 1, PC 2, or PC 3
jack.
b.)
Connect the adapter to an AC voltage power source and connect the barrel
plug on the power adapter to the barrel jack on the baseplate (if available).
The center of the barrel jack is positive. The minimum power requirements for
the IP device is 24VDC at 500mA (using a Universal power supply) and
24VDC at 400mA (using a customer-provided power supply).
4.
While the endpoint is connecting to the IP Resource application, the display shows the
following connection-state information:
•
Ethernet address
•
IP address
•
Subnet mask
•
Gateway address
•
Address of the IP resource to which it is connecting.
•
Station identification (extension number and assigned username) for several
seconds.
•
The LCD changes to the appropriate display, depending on its current status. See
the tables beginning on
page 5-116
for an explanation of status displays.
NOTE
If the endpoint appears to be stuck in “Waiting For Download” mode,
try to ping the endpoint IP address. If you cannot ping the endpoint,
assign a valid BOOTP IP address from a BOOTP server to the device
Ethernet address. Also, change the default IP address, subnet mask,
and default gateway so that the device receives a better default when
it reconnects to the IPR application after the download. When waiting
for a download, the IP device will attempt BOOTP, even if BOOTP is
disabled in IPR application programming. Power cycle the IP device,
then download the software.
The IP Resource application does not provide a BOOTP server and
requires a static IP address or the use of either a third-party BOOTP
server or a DHCP server for IP address assignment.
