Initial Mitel Endpoint – Manual Configuration
The following manual configuration procedure is required the first time only for each endpoint.
All future updates to the endpoint are automatic. Provided the DB Programming option is set to
enable the onboard TFTP server (refer to the
Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide
(part no: 580.8006), you can provide future endpoint firmware updates by upgrading system
software. The method to do this is through the Admin Session Web pages. To force a manual
upgrade, you must reboot the endpoint using the volume up/down buttons, as described below.
To configure the Mitel IP endpoints manually:
1.
Make sure the Inter-Tel 5000 system is up and running, and then make sure you have
done the following (if applicable):
•
Configured the Mitel IP endpoints in DB Programming (refer to the
Inter-Tel 5000
Features and Programming Guide
(part no: 580.8006). Also, read “Notices” on
page 5-101
.
If a Mitel IP endpoint is pointing to the Inter-Tel 5000 and the endpoint has not been
configured in DB Programming, the display appears to be downloading but nothing
is actually happening. You must configure the Mitel IP endpoints in DB
Programming before configuring the endpoint.
•
See the troubleshooting section on
page 5-158
for any endpoint issues.
2.
While the endpoint is powering up, press both volume buttons
and then release one
of the volume buttons.
3.
Using the dialpad buttons, enter
cfg (234)
.

5.
(Optional) You can connect a PC to the PC port on the back of the endpoint. If desired,
thread the PC cable through the slot on the back of the installed base unit, as shown for
the LAN cable in Figure 5-61 on
page 5-156
.
6.
Continue to the Programming chapter in the
Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming
Guide
(part no: 580.8006) for information on programming endpoints or other features in
this release.
NOTE
This procedure assumes the Inter-Tel 5000 system is up, configured, and
running—this includes the desired number of Mitel IP endpoints configured in DB
Programming.
