8.2 Specific safety warnings
8.2.1 Fans and pump
• Disconnect the power supply to the motors before carrying out any kind of work. If necessary, install
a key switch in the immediate vicinity of the machine.
• Never activate the fan if its protective grille has been removed;
• When performing work on the fan and/or its motor, use scaffolding or an aerial work platform: the top of the
cooler is not designed to be walked on.
8.2.2 Protection against biological Hazards
The wetting water, even though appropriately managed with the refreshment cycles envisaged in
adiabatic operation, may represent a potential source of risk of biological contaminants, particularly
during periodical maintenance and cleaning operations.
The personnel that may be directly exposed to the moist air flow, or the maintenance staff, must wear
appropriate PPE, in particular a respiratory protection (mask) approved by the authorities in charge
and/or in compliance with the Directive
2016/425/UE.
IMPORTANT
Cooler maintenance staff should follow the recommendations provided in EUROVENT
9-7 guidelines (Ed. 2011) to keep cooling systems safe and efficient.
