7.3 Adjustment and reduction of the heat capacity
The adjustment of the adiabatic cooler heat capacity according to the temperature of the water exiting the heat
exchange battery is automatically made by means of a sensor probe placed in the plant feed pipe.
The cooled fluid temperature signal is used by the control system inside the electrical panel for managing the
cooling unit as a whole, automatically optimising both electricity consumption (prevalent in the cold and
intermediate seasons) and water consumption (combined with electricity consumption in the hotter seasons).
The purposes of this type of adjustment are as follows:
• to achieve a constant temperature of the fluid sent to the users regardless of thermal load variations;
• to optimise electricity and wetting water consumption;
• optimise the machine noise levels.
For setting the operating parameters to suit your needs, please refer to the chapter on the electrical connection
and setting the operating parameters.
7.4 The use of ethylene glycol and adding it to the closed circuit
Refer to the technical data sheets of the glycol used.
7.5 Cooler operation and control logic
Machine operation management is fully automatic thanks to an electrical panel equipped with PLC
programmed in the factory according to the logic illustrated below:
• Dry running: used during the winter period when the air does not undergo the humidification process. In this
case, the air entering the cooler passes through the dry adiabatic pack and hits the battery, cooling the fluid
inside.
• Adiabatic operation: envisaged during the summer season when the air undergoes an adiabatic cooling
process. In this case, the air passes through the wet adiabatic pack, cools and hits the battery, cooling the
fluid inside.
7.6 Wetting water management and precautions to be followed
In the PAD
– V adiabatic cooler, the use of water is limited to the summer period and in the quantities strictly
necessary to keep the humidifier pack damp: this condition is managed entirely automatically by the system
control software.
Always remember to observe the periodical purging schedule and a regular cleaning and maintenance plan as
stated in this manual. The parts potentially subjected to these operations are easily accessible and removable
in safety, making cleaning operations quick and easy.
In order to maintain good water quality in the wetting circuit, the following option is set in the software:
• Periodically the water in the tanks is automatically emptied by opening of the drain solenoid valve. The
minimum level sensor in the tank signals the closure of the drain solenoid valve. When the drain valve
closes, the make-up valve opens to fill the tanks with clean water.
Once the water reaches the required level, the maximum level sensor tells the make-up solenoid valve to
close. The system can then return to normal operation.
