5.3 Component assembly
PAD - V adiabatic coolers are transported completely pre-assembled. For unloading and handling
operations, always use the relative yellow rigging plates.
5.4 Hook-up to power supplies
5.4.1 Electrical connection
Each adiabatic cooler is supplied complete with an electrical control panel. The connections on-board
the machine between the electrical panel and the various components are made in the factory. For
information on the operating logic and the variation of pre-set and general management parameters,
see Chapter 7 "Machine Use".
Once the electrical connections have been made, check that all motors rotate in the right direction
(fans and pump) and comply with the requirements indicated on each one. If this is not the case, invert
the direction of rotation by simply swapping over two phases on the terminals inside the panel,
obviously having first taken care to cut off the power supply upline.
5.5 Use of the equipment as a liquid cooler
To facilitate connection operations, the connectors leading to the battery manifolds are on one side
while the water delivery and drain connectors are on the other.
5.5.1 Plumbing connection of the primary circuit (utility)
• Copper pipes with threaded or flanged connectors: these must be made taking into account any
possible thermal expansion. It is advisable to insert suitable rubber compensation joints.
• Provide an independent support bracket in a completely closed circuit so that the weight of the
piping arriving from the system at the battery connections does not create an excessive burden.
• Provide an expansion vessel equipped with a vent valve, in order to compensate for any pressure
changes.
• Air vent valve included in the MITA supply: install in the highest point of the circuit, which generally
corresponds with the battery inlet threaded stub pipes.
• Provide a fluid drain valve at the lowest point of the circuit.
• Make sure that the configuration of the closed circuit observes the fluid inlet and outlet connections
indicated on the battery, in order for the heat exchange to take place properly and in order for the
design thermal yield to be guaranteed.
• When multiple coolers are connected in parallel, it is recommended to install intercept valves both
in order to balance the flow rate in every single battery and in case it becomes necessary to isolate
a battery.
CAUTION
The primary circuit must be completely closed, i.e. intermediate tanks or open replenishments
must be avoided at all costs as these may create oxygenation of the circuit water, making it
particularly aggressive and causing the corrosion of pipes from the interior and subsequent
rupturing.
