PARAMETER
DESCRIPTION
FAULT CODE
1028
FAULT MESSAGE Exciter Field Over Current Fault.
RESTRICTIONS
Motoring and Dynamic Brake Prohibited
ALARM BELL
30 Sec.
RESET LEVEL
Medium, Manual
After manual reset if the fault still present, the fault will be generated
again.
FAULT
RECOVERY
Autometic when exciter field current is reduced below 0.5A and Master
Handle is brought to IDLE. Auto fault recovery is permitted for 3 times
in one hour. There after Manual reset is required.
PROBABLE
CAUSES
1. Defective / Wrong connection at FCP
2. Defective Exciter (Field internally shorted)
3. Any one-diode short circuit in the rectifier making the system to
pump more current in the exciter field.
4. One of the alternator phase is not generating any voltage.
5. Defective EXFI current sensor
6. Defective MAIP8_EP card.
FAULT
ISOLATION
1. Check for any disconnected / over heated wires at the FCP. Identify
and reconnect the wires correctly.
2. Check for any short circuit between exciter terminals either
internally or externally like terminals touching to inspection cover.
If found rectify and remove short circuit.
3. Check backside Terminal board for any disconnected exciter field
wires and touching to nearby positive wires. Identify and isolate
them.
4. Check and ensure that there are no short-circuited diodes in the
rectifier.
5. Measure the Exciter field current with an ammeter and compare
with the displayed EXFI value.
6. If the displayed EXFI value is greater than the actual current:
A. EXFI current sensor might be defective.
B. MAIP8_EP card might be defective.
