RESET LEVEL
Medium, Manual

FAULT
RECOVERY

and Master Handle is brought to IDLE. Auto fault recovery is permitted
for 3 times in one hour. There after Manual reset is required.
PROBABLE
CAUSES
1. Defective FCP
2. Defective Exciter
3. Exciter field drive circuit defect
FAULT
ISOLATION
1. Check for any disconnected / over heated wires at the FCP. Identify
and reconnect the wires.
2. Check for any short circuit between armature and field circuit due
to either internally or externally like terminals touching to
inspection cover. If found rectify and remove short circuit.
3. Apply loco brakes and ensure that the brakes are physically
applied. Take all precausions required to move a locomotive.
4. Set the display mode to excitation mode.
5. Set up the locomotive to motoring and move the master handle to
notch 1.
6. Observe the exciter field current and exciter armature current on
the display unit. If both the values are with in the limits, then the
fault is transient.
