& CAUTION
D o n ’t use steel w ool, abrasive
cleaners, o r strong detergents
containing highly alkaline o r caustic
agents on chrom e-plated or anodized
alum inum parts. T his m ay result in
d am age to the protective coating and
cause discoloration o r paint
deterioration.
▼ Underbody Maintenance
R oad chem icals and salt used for ice and
snow rem oval and solvents used fo r dust
control m ay collect on the underbody. If
not rem oved, they w ill speed up rusting
and deterioration o f such underbody parts
as fuel lines, fram e, floor pan, and exhaust
system , even though these parts m ay be

coated w ith anti-corrosive m aterial.
T horoughly flush the underbody and
w h eel housings w ith lukew arm or cold
w ater at the end o f each w inter. Try also to
do this every m onth.
Pay special attention to these areas
because they easily h id e m ud and dirt. I t
w ill d o m o re h a r m th a n g o o d to w e t
d o w n th e r o a d g rim e w ith o u t re m o v in g
it.
T he low er edges o f doors, ro ck er panels,
and fram e m em bers have drain holes that
should not be clogged. W ater trapped
there w ill cause rusting.

D riving w ith Wet Brakes:
D rivin g w ith w et brakes is dangerou s.
In crea sed stoppin g d istan ce o r the
veh icle p u llin g to one side w hen
b rakin g cou ld re su lt in a serious
acciden t. L ig h t b rakin g w ill indicate
w h eth er the brakes have been
affected. D r y the brakes b y drivin g
very slow ly a n d a p plyin g the brakes
lig h tly u n til brake perfo rm a n ce is
norm al.

Aluminum Wheel Maintenance
A protective coating is provided over the
alum inum w heels. S p ecial care is needed
to p ro tect this coating.
N O T E
D o n ’t use a w ire brush or any
abrasive cleaner, polishing
com pound, o r solvent on alum inum
w heels. They m ay dam age the
coating.
O nly use a m ild soap or neutral
d etergent and alw ays use a sponge
o r soft cloth to clean the w heels.
R inse thoroughly w ith lukew arm or
cold water. A lso, b e sure to clean
the w heels after driving on dusty or
salted roads. T his helps prevent
corrosion.
A void w ashing y o u r vehicle in an
autom atic car w ash that uses high
speed or hard brushes.
If y o u r alum inum w heels lose
luster, w ax the w heels.
