To turn off the system , use o n e of these
m ethods:
• P u sh the O F F end o f the C R U ISE
M A IN sw itch.
• S lightly depress the brake pedal.
• (M a n u a l tra n s a x le )
D epress the clutch pedal.
T h e system is o ff w hen the ignition is off.
C ruise control w ill cancel at about 1 5
k m /h (9 m ph) below the preset speed
or below 40 km /h (25 m ph).

Traction Control System
(TCS)
T h e T raction C ontrol System (TCS)
enhances traction and safety by regulating
engine torque. W hen the TCS detects
driving w heel slippage, it low ers engine
torque to prevent loss o f traction.
This m eans that on a slick surface, the
engine adjusts autom atically to provide
optim um pow er to the drive w heels
w ithout causing them to spin and lose
traction.

TCS a n d Unsafe D riving:
The traction co n tro l system (TCS)
ca n n o t c om pen sate f o r unsafe a n d
reckless drivin g, excessive speed,
tailgatin g (follow ing a n o th er vehicle
too closely), a n d h ydroplan in g
(redu ced tire fric tio n a n d road
co n ta ct b ecau se o f w a ter on the ro a d
su rface). You can still have an
acciden t. So d o n ’t rely on the traction
co n tro l system a s a su bstitu te f o r safe
driving.
TCS a n d Sn ow a n d Ice:
D riving w ith o u t p ro p e r traction
devices on sn ow a n d ice-covered
roads is dan gerou s. The traction
co n tro l system (TC S) alon e ca n n o t
p ro v id e adequ ate traction a n d you
c o u ld still have a n acciden t. Use snow
tires o r tires chains a n d drive a t
red u ced speeds w hen roads are
covered w ith ice a n d snow.
