Security System
Theft-Deterrent System
The optional theft-deterrent system is
designed to prevent y o u r vehicle or its
contents from being stolen w hen all the
doors, hood, and trunk lid are locked.
If forcible entry is attem pted, the system
sounds the horn and flashes the hazard
w arning lights and headlights.
T he th eft-deterrent system has been
d esigned to operate m ainly w ith the
keyless entry system transm itter.
The system w o n ’t function unless it ’s
properly arm ed. So w hen you leave the
vehicle, lo ck all the doors, close all the
w indow s, take y o u r key, your transm itter,
and m ake sure the security in d icato r light
is flashing.
▼ Operation
W h a t tu r n s it on:
• F orcing open a door, the hood or the
tru n k lid.
• O pening the hood or the tru n k lid by
operating the hood release lever or
rem ote tru n k lid release button.
• O pening a door after unlocking the
doors w ith the key o r an in sid e door-
lock button.
N O T E
T he alarm w ill activate about 15
seconds after a door has been opened.
T he in d ic ato r light flashes rapidly for
a bout 15 seconds.
W h a t it d oes:
• T he horn sounds interm ittently and the
hazard w arning lights and headlights
flash.
• T he alarm continues for about 3
m inutes, then stops.
W hen it is triggered, the w arning lights
and horn w ill activate. T hey w ill shut o ff
w hen:
• T he doors are unlocked w ith the
keyless entry system transm itter.
• T he trunk lid is opened w ith the key or
the keyless entry system transm itter.
• T he ignition is turned to the O N
position.
▼ How to Arm the System
1. R em ove the ignition key.
2. C lose the hood and the trunk lid. T hen
close the doors and press the A
button on the keyless entry system
transm itter.
T he follow ing m ethod w ill also arm the
theft-deterrent system :
C lose the hood and the trunk lid. Press the
area on the door-lock sw itch m arked
"D O O R LO C K " once. C lose all the doors.
T he hazard w arning lights w ill flash for
about 2 seconds to in d icate the system is
arm ed.
