In Case of an Em ergency
Flat Tire
/ h WARNING
R em oving D irt a n d G rim e fro m
W heels, H ubs a n d H ub Bolts:
W h en ch angin g o r replacin g a tire,
n ot rem ovin g d irt a n d grim fro m the
m ou n tin g su rfaces o f the w heel, hub
a n d hub bolts is dangerou s. The lug
nuts cou ld loosen w hile drivin g a n d
cau se the tire to com e off, resu ltin g in
a n acciden t. M ake sure the m ou n tin g
su rfaces o f the w heel, hub a n d lug
nuts are clean before ch an gin g o r
replacin g tires.
2. M ount the spare tire.
3. Install the lug nuts w ith the beveled
edge inw ard; tighten them by hand.

Bolts:

bolts is dangerou s. The lug nuts cou ld

acciden t. In addition, lug nuts an d
bolts cou ld be d a m a g ed i f tigh ten ed
m ore than necessary. Do n o t apply oil
o r grease to lu g nuts a n d bolts a n d do
n ot tigh ten the lu g nu ts b eyo n d the
reco m m en d ed tigh ten in g torque.
4. Turn the lug w rench counterclockw ise
and low er the vehicle. U se the lug
w rench to tighten the nuts in the order
show n.
If y o u ’re unsure o f how tig h t the nuts
should be, have them inspected at a
service station.
