The Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions SOLAIR 1100LD family of
instruments incorporate MODBUS TCP/IP communication over
Ethernet. Connect a SOLAIR 1100LD particle counter directly to an
Ethernet network only with the permission and guidance of the site
Network Administrator.
The primary advantage of using the SOLAIR 1100LD on an Ethernet
network is that a separate network does not have to be installed just for
the instruments. Using the SOLAIR 1100LD Ethernet Port allows the
instruments to co-exist with computers, printers and servers on a LAN
that is already in place, thereby reducing installation costs.
This chapter will explain how to program the SOLAIR to meet the
requirements of the LAN into which it is to be installed. It will list
typical equipment required and provide some troubleshooting
information. The end of the chapter provides ARP commands to be
used should the instrument get "lost" on the LAN.
Lantronix
Setup
For primary use, Lantronix DeviceInstaller can make configuration
changes to insrument Ethernet IP Address and subnet.
1. Connect the S1100 to the Ethernet LAN and apply power. Start the
Lantronix DeviceInstaller (DI) program on a computer connected
to the same LAN. It is suggested the LAN be limited in size to
prevent confusion caused by a large number of addresses being
discovered. DI will automatically begin searching for attached
devices. The
Hardware Address (MAC Address) for the SOLAIR
1100 will be displayed as shown in Figure 4-6.
• Confirm the device by verifying that the Hardware address
displayed in DeviceInstaller matches the address on the back of
the SOLAIR.
