Select Input (COM) dialog box

Serial line communication with external devices is important for the TV80 system. The
communication between the TV80 system and peripheral devices takes place using
"datagrams". For most commercial devices, the formats of the datagrams are defined by
NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association). In the

Select Input (COM)

dialog box

you can select the input for the available serial ports for interface purposes.

How to open

This dialog box is only available if there is a free serial (COM) port. To open the

dialog box, select a free serial (COM) port on the

I/O Setup

page.

The

I/O Setup

page is located in the

Installation

dialog box.

Description

The first time the Processor Unit is
turned on after a TV80 system software
installation, it will automatically do
a search to find available serial ports.
Every serial communication port is
presented as a 9–pin D-connector. Next
to every port icon, a green indicator
shows it is available, while a red one
shows it is not available. Select the
system you want to interface from the
list provided. If your equipment is not
listed, select

You can give your new serial port a
more descriptive name in the
