Vehicle care 203
Adding engine coolant
Overheated engine
Warning
The cooling system is
pressurised, so to avoid injury
please read all of the following
instructions before attempting to
add coolant.
Without undoing the coolant
reservoir filler cap, look at the level
from outside the container.
Caution
Do not spill coolant on the
vehicle’s exterior surfaces as it
can damage the paintwork. If you
do, wash it off immediately.
• If
extinguishes, resume
driving at a reduced speed.
• Return to normal driving after
10 minutes.
• If the engine overheats again,
contact a Holden Dealer as soon
as possible.
When the engine is hot:
• The level should be above the
MIN
mark.
• If the level is at or below the
MIN
mark, add coolant:
1. Allow the engine to cool
slightly.
2. Cover the cap with a thick
cloth.
3. Remove the cap very slowly
to allow any pressure to
escape.
4. If water is added it needs to
be clean.
5. Top up the coolant reservoir
to the
MAX
mark while the
engine is idling.
6. Replace the coolant reservoir
filler cap.
