Starting the engine
1. Apply the park brake. Release it
only after starting the engine and
you are ready to drive off.
2. Move the shift lever to position
P
or
N
. The engine will not start
if the shift lever is in any other
position.
As a safety precaution, have
your foot on the brake pedal
to move the shift lever out of
position
P
.
3. Starting the engine:
For cold or hot starting, the
procedure is the same.
Do not touch the accelerator
pedal.
Retained Accessory
Power (RAP)
The following accessories may be
used for up to 10 minutes after the
ignition control knob is turned to the
lock position:
• Outside mirror
• Power windows
• Radio
• Centre console power sockets
Note
The outside mirror and power
windows will operate until a door is
opened.
The audio system will function until
the driver’s door is opened.
Petrol engine:
1. Turn the ignition control knob to
the start position momentarily
and then release it.
2. The engine starts automatically.
3. The ignition control knob
automatically returns to the on
position when released.
Diesel engine:
1. Turn the ignition control knob to
the on position.
When

extinguishes:
2. Turn the ignition control knob to
the start position until the engine
starts.
The ignition control knob
automatically returns to the on
position when released.
Note
• The diesel preheating (glow
plugs) system switches on only if
the outside temperature is low.
