Driving and operating 169
Hill Start Assist (HSA)
The HSA system assists in
preventing rollback when driving off,
while on an incline.
1. Release the brake pedal.
2. Press the accelerator pedal.
The brakes remain on for
approximately 2 seconds.
Traction Control System
(TCS)
TCS uses sensors that detect
sudden wheel spin.
If one wheel is about to spin, braking
is applied to transfer rotation to
a wheel with better traction. This
improves performance when starting
off and accelerating.
Descent Control System
(DCS)
The DCS:
• Is only for driving down steep
gradients
• Works in conjunction with the
ABS to maintain the slow speed
descent of the vehicle
• Works in conjunction with the
cruise control system
• Can be used when driving
forwards or in reverse
• Is designed for off road driving
when moving over steep
gradients
• May malfunction if used
unnecessarily
Do not use DCS when driving on
normal roads
• When activated, causes strong
vibrations and noise from the
brake system
Active Rollover
Protection (ARP)
When the vehicle becomes
extremely unstable, ARP helps
maintain stability by detecting
excessive vehicle roll.
ARP maximises the brake force
on the wheels, slowing the vehicle
down and reducing the amount of
vehicle roll.
