Protection for insufficient performance in Heating mode.
If after 5 minutes of compressor’s operation, temperature on Indoor Unit’s heat exchanger, detected by
TP1
sensor, is < 30°C for 20 consecutive minutesm, “Running” LED on Indoor Unit will flash for 4
times/6seconds or Error Code “E4” will be displayed.
If for further 20 consecutive minutes temperature on Indoor Unit’s heat exchanger, detected by
TP1
sensor,,
is < 30°C, Control PCB on Indoor Unit will command the stop of system as a result of the intervention of
protection function for malfunction on Outdoor Unit and “Running” LED on Indoor Unit wil flash again
for 4 times/6seconds.

Automatic defrosting.
On these systems, the Outdoor Unit is not provided of a temperature sensor on heat exchanger, and it has
no outdoor air temperature sensor. It follows that control electronics has to estimate the necessity to carry out
automatic defrosting on the basis of hypothesis drawn by the analysis of other available parameters.
Control electronics estimates the necessity to carry out automatic defrosting according to time (
T
vent. est.

variable, in this context, from 40 minutes to 120 minutes) of continuous operation of outdoor fan in Heating
mode.
Automatic defrosting will have a basically longer duration as a direct function of value of
T
vent. est.
parameter,
but it will be necessary to take into consideration another parameter.
In fact, control electronics estimates the necessity to carry out automatic defrosting also according to the decrease
of heat pump’s heating capacity, evaluated further to the variation (reduction) over the time (

in this context, from 1°C to 5°C) of average temperature value on Indoor Unit’s heat exchanger as regards the
max. value (

) of temperature itself. This max. value is detected after a sufficient time interval (about 7
minutes) is elapsed in Heating operation.

In case of variation of Indoor Unit’s rotating fan speed, when calculating

he variation will be taken into
consideration (positive in case of reduction in Indoor Unit’s fan speed; negative in case of increase in Indoor
Unit’s fan speed) of

temperature deriving from this factor.
In brief, by considering the above parameters, automatic defrosting may have a duration variable from
min. 4 minutes up to max. 8 minutes.
