Heating bath and flask lift
The heating bath can be filled with different heat transfer fluids, e.g.,
20° C to 90° C
tap water
20° C to 170° C
polyethylene glycol (e.g. Budde heating bath fluid)*
150° C to 210° C
silicone oil with low viscosity (40 cP), flashpoint > 285 °C
e. g. Wacker AP 200 silicone oil)*
* see chapter “Spare Parts and Accessories, Accessories”.
Danger!
Risk of explosion!
Heating bath fluid oil with a flash point < 285 °C could catch fire at
high heating bath temperatures and lead to uncontrolled thermal reac-
tions and possible explosion.
➜
Use only oil with a flash point > 285 °C.
The markings in the heating bath indicate the minimum and maximum liquid levels for
the immersed evaporating flask.
The evaporating flask is moved up and down using a lift and is immersed in the heating
bath in this manner.
When the lift moves downward, the evaporating flask displaces the
already filled in water or oil.
To prevent the heating bath from overflowing:
▪
Prior to filling, move the lift with the mounted evaporating flask
downward.
▪
Only then fill the water or oil up to at most the upper mark of the
heating bath container.
