Self Test with Loopback
This diagnostic cycles through each DS0 by placing a test data pattern in a transmit DS0, and then
attempting to read that data in the same DS0 in the receiver. A DS0 is tested each second; therefore
testing the entire T1 24 DS0s takes 24 seconds to complete. The T1 framer is placed into internal
framer loopback and timing set to internal for the test duration. The diagnostic is independent of T1
configuration and no other T1 data is corrupted other than the currently used DS0.
After user verification, the diagnostic runs for 900 seconds (15 minutes) or until the user presses the
Ctrl+C
keys. The console port will display the number DS0s tested, the number of tests that pass,
the number of tests that fail, the percentage of tests that fail, and the number of seconds remaining
in the diagnostic.

Self Test
This diagnostic is identical to Self Test loopback, with the exception that the internal framer
loopback is not activated, and no change in timing source is made. An external T1 loopback is
required to increment the pass counter. Since this diagnostic is independent of T1 timeslot
configuration, the remote T1 device does not need to be configured identically to the SCIP in order
to pass the self test. For the duration of the Self Test, the clock source is set to internal timing.
After user verification, the diagnostic runs for 900 seconds (15 minutes) or until the user presses the
Ctrl+C

the number of tests that fail, the percentage of tests that fail, and the number of seconds remaining
in the diagnostic.
Note
If this diagnostic passes, but there is no network connectivity, T1 timeslot configuration is probably incorrect.
