Chapter 6:

Diagnostics & Monitoring

Diagnostics Overview

SCIP provides the following diagnostic tests and tools:

•

T1 Network Line Loopback provides a network loopback function for externally
generated data.

•

T1 Self Test with Loopback provides a data test pattern for verifying the operation of the
T1 framer circuitry.

•

T1 Self Test provides a data pattern on the T1 for verifying an external network loopback.

•

T1 Payload Loopback provides a network payload loopback function for externally
generated data.

•

LAN-X Check verifies the integrity of the link using various sized test packets.

•

Traceroute can assist in diagnosing IP connectivity problems.

Note

SCIP does not support Self Test with a remote SCIP that is also in Self Test.

Diagnostics Commands

•

For help in setting up and starting a diagnostic test, type:

diags ?

or

diags t1 ?

•

To show the status of any T1 diagnostic test in progress, type:

show t1

•

To execute a trace-route, type:

trace-rte

[Destination IP address]

•

To cancel a T1 diagnostic test, type:

diags t1 cancel

•

To cancel a LAN-X diagnostic test or a trace route, press the CTRL-C keys.

•

To detect an interruption in TX/RX packets, type:

lanx-util info remote
