The seedlings must be planted in soil which has been
finely tilled with a harrow or hoeing machine and lightly
compacted on the surface.
Do not load any seedlings into the dispenser that have
the root ball (or parts of it) missing as these will not be
planted properly.
We recommend you dampen the root ball well (but with-
out causing dripping) to help the seedling fall from the
dispenser better and also take root.
Do not work on extremely spongy spoil, or extremely
compact soil, nor on very wet ground, as these condi-
tions would all affect planting quality negatively.

grip the ground at all times and the tractor lift must be
fully lowered.
Preliminary operations
Before starting planting, position the machine on flat
ground and carry out the following operations.
1) Check that the plant spacing is correct (see “Adjust-
ing the plant spacing” - page 18).
2) Check that the row spacing is correct (see “Adjust-
ing the row spacing” - page 17).
3) Assess the soil consistency in order to adjust the dis-
tance, with knob (

), between the packing wheels
and the ploughshare (see “Adjusting the spacing
between the packing wheels and the ploughshare” -
page 14).
Changing the transmission ratio (Rapid Shift)
WARNING
WARNING
Switch off the tractor engine, remove the ignition
key, and store in a safe place to prevent an accident
during the change of the transmission ratio. The aim of the change of the transmission ratio is to
obtain the required plant spacing.
See the “Adjusting the plant spacing” chapter to se-
lect the pair of pinions to be used from the range of
possible combinations.
To change the transmission ratio proceed as outlined.
1) Unscrew the knob (

2) Remove the casing (

3) Loosen the knob (

4) Push lever (

) to slacken the chain.
5) Move the chain (

) on the pair of pinions correspond-
ing to the plant spacing necessary to plant the seed-
ling.
6) Pull the lever (

) and tighten the chain adequately.
7) Tighten the knob (

).
8) Fit the casing (

9) Tighten the knob (
