4.1 Function operation guide

Average operation in the 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer
The trace average is to average the signal levels of multiple traces generated from swiping for many times.
The video average detector, power average detector and voltage average detector are to average the period of
time or the frequency interval data reflected by the data of a certain point on one trace.
Noise marker is to average the data of multiple measurement points on the same trace to decrease the
amplitude fluctuation.
The video filter is also considered to average the same trace being measured in a similar way.
Caution
The average operation carried out to the logarithm power data and the data conversion carried out to the data
averaged will generate totally different measurement results.
 Limit line measurement
The function of limit line measurement can help you execute some specified conformance measurements
quickly. The limit line can be edited and the limit line measurement can be started with [Limit Line
Measurement] menu by pressing

on the front panel.
 Control ADC dither
The ADC dither circuit of the Series Signal Analyzer can be opened and closed manually with [ADC Dither]
menu corresponding to the
【
Meas Setup
】
key. The ADC dither function is helpful for improving the
linearity low level signal measurement at the cost of compromising part of measurement SNR (signal to noise
ratio) performance.
With ADC dither opened, the Series Signal Analyzer can provide better measurement linearity, so as to
improve the fidelity of scale, which works effectively particularly during small-signal measurement. With
ADC dither closed, the lower noise floor can be obtained.
Under default state, the ADC dither is under auto state; the Series Signal Analyzer sets the auto control of
ADC dither to be open or close based on different measurements.
4.1.2.7 Parameter settings of coupling and auto
Many parameters of 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer can be set automatically based on the current
measurement state, so as to enable you to carry out measurement in a more convenient way.
If you hope to restore the measurement parameters from manual state to auto state quickly, all the
measurement parameters will be restored to auto state by pressing
【 Couple 】 and enabling the [Couple All]
menu. The menus corresponding to the

The corresponding menus
