3.1.2.5 System backup and recovery
1) Disk operating system or data recovery
The disk recovery system of the Series Signal Analyzer is used to restore in case of software error of Disk C
(caused by loss of system files or data) or restore original manufacturer defaults.
Restoring of manufacturer defaults will affect the following:
 User-defined Windows 7 settings. Such as adding new user accounts. After the system is restored, new
settings are required.
 After the system is restored, other third-party software installed by users should be reinstalled.
Using data recovery to repair disk error may result in loss of data or files. Therefore, data generated during
measurement should be saved in Disk E. Furthermore, it is recommended that users regularly transmit such
data via LAN to other computers or other storage media for storage.
2) How to use instrument recovery program
Step 1. Confirm that the instrument is turned off.
Step 2. Connect standard keyboard from PS/2 interface on the rear panel of the instrument;
Step 3. Turn on the instrument. After display of the system information, an operating system menu with a
timer will appear:

Before the timer hits 0, use the up/down arrow on the standard keyboard to select ―System Recovery
Tool‖ and click Enter.
Step 4. After entering the system recovery program interface, proceed as follows:
a) Select the first item ―GHOST, DISKGEN, PQMAGIC, MHDD, DOS‖ and wait to enter the next
operation prompt interface;
b) Select the third item to start ―GHOST11.2‖, wait to enter GHOST11.2 operating interface and
click Enter when a dialog with OK button appears;
c) Select Local


opened file dialogue and enter

d) Use Tab key to switch to OK in the Select Source Partition dialog popped up and click Enter;
then again use Tab key to switch to OK in Select Target Device‖ dialog popped up and click
Enter; select Partition 1 in Select Target Partition dialog popped up, use Tab key to switch to OK
and click Enter;
e) Select Yes in Alert and Confirmation dialog and click Enter;
f) Wait until the system is completely recovered and select Reboot by following the prompts.
Step 5. After the instrument is restarted, the system will restore to the previous state when backup was made.
Step 6. After the system is restored, it is recommended that users execute all IF calibrations when the
instrument is working stably after startup.
3.1.3 Routine Maintenance
This section describes the routine maintenance of the 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer.
