4.1.1.2 I/Q analysis mode (4051-S series is not provided with the IO analysis mode)
The I/Q analysis mode can help the user capture the complex number time domain data from the RF input port
signal, which retains the vector relation of time, frequency, phase and amplitude of signal. By setting center
frequency and analysis bandwidth, the broadband VDC and digital IF processing in the Series Signal Analyzer
can resolve the signal to I/Q data. Those I/Q data can be analyzed through the I/Q analysis function under this
mode or inputted to other analysis tools through GPIB, LAN and USB interface for analysis and processing.
The I/Q analysis tool inside the 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer can execute such basis analysis and
measurement as FFT spectrum, time domain and I/Q waveform.
Under standard configuration, the 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer can execute I/Q analysis of 10 MHz
bandwidth signal and extend the bandwidth signal to 40 MHz or 200 MHz through configuration of options.
The I/Q analysis mode can be accessed by activating the [I/Q Analyzer] menu through the

4.1.2 Operation guidance for parameter setting of common measurement
This section mainly describes the concept of basic measurement setting commonly used in the spectrum
analysis mode and its effect on the measurement results, as well as its setting methods. Regardless of
measurement mode or measurement task, those concept and setting methods are of great help to familiarize
you with the 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer and its use. Some setting methods of measurement may
vary slightly should other measurement modes be used, please refer to the corresponding user manual relating
to the measurement mode.

4.1.2.1 Settings of reset state and PowOn
Reset state means the Series Signal Analyzer is restored to one known and definite measurement state. The
reset state is classified into two types: factory reset state and user reset state. Whether the analyzer is restored
to factory preset state or user preset state can be set by pressing

key through the [PowerOn/Preset]
soft menu in the 【 System 】 key on the front panel.
PowOn refers to one known and definite working state that the analyzer enters automatically when the Series
Signal Analyzer is powered on and started or the software program of Series Signal Analyzer is started
through the Windows operating system.
1) Save user reset state
Step 1. First set the analyzer to the reset working state desired by you;

key on the front panel, then [PowerOn/Preset] soft menu and [Preset Fact User], set
the preset state to user state;
Step 3. Finish the saving of user reset state by pressing the soft menu of [Save User Preset].
