UniVert User Manual

High Force Grips

1. Select a spring with an appropriate clamping force for the specimen being tested (see

Appendix G

for more details).

2. Jog the actuator using Actuator Control or select Move to Specified Size

until the grips

are sufficiently far apart.

3. Loosen the M4 screw with a 2.5 mm hex key and squeeze the two halves of the top grip to

clamp the sample. For higher clamping force, use the same hex key to tighten the locking
screw against the back face of the grip.

4. Using Actuator Control, lower the top grip (with specimen attached).

5. Open the bottom grip and clamp the specimen between the grip faces. Use the 2.5 mm

hex key to tighten the locking screw if higher clamping forces are required.
