Problems on the Road
. . . 472
7. Attach the other end of the
negative cable to a heavy
metal part on the engine of
the vehicle with the
discharged battery, or to a
remote negative (-) ground
location if the vehicle has one.
Attach the cable at least 45 cm
(18 inches) away from the
dead battery, but not near
engine parts that move.
8. Start the vehicle with the
good battery. Run the engine
for a while.
9. Then try to start the other
vehicle.
If the engine does not start
after a few tries, the vehicle
may need service.
10. Remove the cables in reverse
order to prevent electrical
shorting.
NOTICE
Damage to your vehicle may
result from electrical shorting if
jumper cables are connected or
disconnected incorrectly. To
prevent electrical shorting, take
care that the cables do not
touch each other or any other
metal.
The repairs would not be
covered by your warranty.
NOTICE
When a power loss occurs, such
as disconnecting the battery or
removing the maxifuses in the
fuse block, the Electronic
Throttle Control must be
recalibrated. If this is not done,
the engine will not run
properly.
See "Battery" in Section 4 for
information on recalibrating
the Electronic Throttle Control.
■
TOWING
See your dealer or a professional
towing service if you need to have
your vehicle towed.
Also, see "Recreational Vehicle
Towing" in Section 3.
NOTICE
If the doors are locked with the
security system armed, the
alarm will activate when the
vehicle is inclined for towing.
