The tire sealant and compressor kit
uses a liquid tire sealant and air to
seal small punctures in the tread
area of a tire.
The tire sealant cannot repair tire
damage caused while driving on a
flat tire, a tire that has had a blow
out or a tire that has punctures in
the sidewall area.
If you think a tire may be flat, avoid
further tire and wheel damage by
driving very slowly to a level place
and stopping. Turn on your hazard
warning flashers.
Set the parking brake.
Place the automatic gear shift in
P
(Park), or the manual gear shift
in
R
(Reverse).
Turn off the engine and inspect
the flat tire.
If the flat tire is due to a small
puncture, less than 6 mm
(0.2 inches) in size, in the tread
area of the tire, a tire sealant and
compressor kit may be used to
temporarily seal and inflate the
damaged tire.
Do not remove any small object
that has penetrated the tire tread.
If the tire has been separated from
the wheel or has damaged side-
walls or a puncture larger than
6 mm (0.2 inches) that allows
rapid air loss, call a tire repair
facility.
Damage to the tire is severe and
the sealant will not be effective.
See the following, later in this
section, for more information:
• Using the Tire Sealant and
Compressor Kit
After inflating the tire to its
recommended pressure, drive the
vehicle 8 km (5 miles) to evenly
distribute the tire sealant and seal
the puncture.
Take the vehicle to the dealer as
soon as possible to have the
damaged tire inspected and
repaired.
If the sealant is not removed from
the damaged tire within 161 km
(100 miles) of driving, the tire will
probably require replacement.
