This feature gives the driver more
manual control over the operation
of the transmission.
Use the driver-controlled shift
mode to remain in a gear longer
for sport driving or climbing hills,
or to downshift for more power or
engine braking.
The vehicle will have firmer,
quicker shifting and increased
performance.
To use this feature, move the shift
lever from the
D
(Drive) position to
the right, into the
M
(Manual
Mode) position.
If you do not move the shift lever
forward or rearward, the vehicle
will be in sport mode.
SPORT MODE
will appear on the
Driver Information Center display.
See "Driver Information Center" in
Section 1.
If the vehicle is in sport mode, the
transmission will still shift gears
automatically.
It is normal for the transmission to
remain in a gear longer when
sport mode is selected.
To upshift, move the shift lever
forward.
To downshift, move the shift lever
rearward.
The requested change in gear
range will display below the
tachometer in the instrument
cluster.
If your vehicle is a CTS-V model,
the tracer lights around the
outside of the tachometer will
indicate when to shift to the next
higher gear for better performance
and to avoid the engine speed
limit. See "Tachometer" in
Section 1.
To prevent over-revving the
engine, each gear range has a
maximum vehicle speed
associated with it.
The transmission will only allow
you to shift into gears appropriate
for the vehicle speed and rpm.
The transmission will not
automatically shift into the next
lower gear if the engine rpm are
too high.
