Starting and Operating Instructions

If your vehicle's transmission shift
inhibitor is active, the indicator for
the currently selected gear will
flash.

If your vehicle is a CTS model, the
transmission will downshift
automatically when the vehicle
comes to a stop. More power will
be available when accelerating
from a stop.

If your vehicle is a CTS-V model,
the transmission will not downshift
automatically when the
accelerator is applied quickly to
increase speed.

Use the second gear start for
better traction control when
starting from a stop in slippery
road conditions.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
TAP UP/TAP DOWN SHIFT
CONTROLS (IF EQUIPPED)

If your vehicle is equipped with an
automatic transmission, there is a
tap up/tap down feature which
allows you to shift gears using the
switches on the back of the
steering wheel.

Use the tap up/tap down feature
to remain in a gear longer for sport
driving or climbing hills, or to
downshift for more power or
engine braking.

The vehicle will have firmer,
quicker shifting for increased
performance.

The tachometer display on the
instrument cluster will show you
the current gear and a number
indicating the requested change in
gear range.

If your vehicle is a CTS-V model,
the tracer lights around the
outside of the tachometer will indi-
cate when to shift to the next
higher gear for better performance
and to avoid the engine speed
limit. See "Tachometer" in
Section 1.

To use this feature, move the shift
lever from the

D

(Drive) position to

the right, into the

M

(Manual

Mode) position.

Then, using the switches on the
back of the steering wheel, tap the
left switch to downshift or tap the
right switch to upshift.

The transmission will only allow
you to shift into gears appropriate
for the vehicle speed and rpm.
