Service and Maintenance
. . . 408
The hydraulic clutch fluid system
should be kept closed and sealed.
Do not remove the cap to check
the fluid level or to top off the fluid
level.
Check the hydraulic clutch fluid
level in the reservoir at the
intervals shown in the
Maintenance Schedule. The level
should be at the
MIN
mark.
If the level is low, add enough fluid
to bring the level up to the
MIN
mark.
See the "Recommended Fluids and
Lubricants" chart later in this
section to determine what kind of
fluid to use.
Transfer Case Lubricant
(All-Wheel Drive Vehicles)
It is not necessary to regularly
check the fluid unless you suspect
there is a leak in the system or you
hear an unusual noise.
Fluid loss in this system could
indicate a problem. Have the
system inspected.
To check the fluid level:
1. Park the vehicle on a level
surface and apply the parking
brake.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Check the level of the
lubricant by removing the
plug.
4. Add lubricant, if needed, to
bring the level up to the
bottom of the filler plug
hole
.
See the "Recommended Fluids and
Lubricants" chart later in this
section to determine what kind of
fluid to use.
When reinstalling the plug, do not
overtighten it.
