Fig. 3.6
Check that the pressure on the air regulator is set to 90 psi. The regulator is adjusted by pulling the cap
upward and rotating clockwise to increase the pressure; anti-clockwise to decrease the pressure. The
regulator is fitted with a water trap which will empty automatically when full.
Press SET HOME to home machine.
Level the machine with an engineer’s level to a tolerance of 100µm over 250mm, front to back and side to
side. Twist can be removed almost completely, but crown is more difficult to remove. We recommend
levelling to a crown of less than 20µm.
Adjust level with levelling feet as necessary to ensure spindle tram. This should be 25µm over the table.
We recommend the tram be checked each time the machine is moved.

Lubrication
3.3.1
Way Lubrication
The auto lube system provides centralized, automatic lubrication for the linear guides and ballscrews. The
lube pump cycles automatically once upon initial startup, after pressing the SERVO ON button and then 1
cycle for every 30 minutes of axis movement time. Each cycle of the lube pump lasts for 4 seconds.
Discharge frequency and length can be adjusted in service code 300.
Discharge Pressure:
Approximately 140 psi
To adjust the discharge pressure, turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the pressure. 1
turn of this screw will raise the pressure about 100 psi.
At the beginning of each day, check the oil level in the Auto Lube system. If low, fill with an ISO32 sideway
oil (e.g. Mobil Vactra No. 1).
If the machine has been left switched on, but idle for more than a day, manually run the lube pump, using
Service Code 300, before using the machine. Repeat this process 3 times.
CAUTION
!
Failure to manually activate the pump at the beginning of each day, if the machine has been left on but
idle for a long period of time, may cause severe damage to the linear guides and ballscrews.
Lube Pump Warning Signals
The lube pump has sensors for low fluid level and low operating pressure. These sensors are combined into
a single status input to the computer module.
Whenever the oil level falls below the minimum level, the status input goes low and a flashing orange safety
message “LUBE LEVEL LOW” appears on the display. Replenish the oil reservoir as soon as possible. The
message clears automatically when the reservoir level is above minimum.
