7.
Install the new encoder in reverse order. Apply a low strength threadlock (such as Loctite 222)
to the encoder shaft grub screws.

X, Y, Z Home Switch Adjustments
Home switches are adjusted as follows:
1.
E-stop the machine.
2.
Manually rotate the ballscrew until it reaches the hard stop.
3.
Back off the hard stop 1 full turn of the ball screw (6mm).
4.
Move the home switch cam from the hard stop towards the home switch actuating roller until
the switch just operates (use service code 521 to display switch status).
5.
Lock the cam in position.
The following service codes should be performed whenever a major adjustment is made to a home switch.
Failure to do may cause the ball lock and tool holder locations for the X and Y axis; as well as tool change
height for the Z axis. The machine may crash if these items are not set correctly.
•
Service Code 505 – reset the motor index angle (machine may not home properly). Must be
checked after any home switch is adjusted.
•
Service Code 500 – reset the X and Y ball lock locations. May need to be performed after X or
Y axis home switch work
•
Service Code 520 – reset the X and Y tool position locations and tool change height.
The home switches that come on the 2 OP should not normally need to be adjusted unless a component,
that is part of the drive train, is changed, such as an axis motor or ballscrew.
Note, soft limits are set by default 0.762mm past the home position and 356.362mm, 467.36mm and
432.562mm from the X, Y and Z home position, respectively.

Adjusting the Drawbar Bump Out
To prevent tools from sticking in the spindle taper, the tool is bumped out by the drawbar assembly at tool
change. The bump out amount should be approximately 0.4mm to 0.5mm. You can check this amount by
loading a tool manually and taking note how much the tool is sucked up into the spindle once you release
the green button. This amount is the same as the bump out amount.
If necessary, adjust bump out as follows:
1.
E-stop the machine to turn off the air.
2.
Loosen the set screw up inside the spindle with a 4 mm Allen key. Figure 6.20 shows the
drawbar assembly removed from the spindle so you can see how it is assembled.
3.
Now use a 5 mm Allen key to move the gripper down, so it will bump the top of the pull stud on
the tool holder. Please note, only very small adjustments are necessary to adjust the bump
out.
4.
Fasten the 4 mm set screw back down.
5.
Press servo on.
6.
Load a tool manually in and out of the spindle to verify the bump is now within limits.
