MPX & OUTPUT
The MPX and OUTPUTS menus contains the controls required to configure the X1’s
internal DSP-based precision stereo generator and set the various output levels. Along with
the output controls are adjustments for the HD time alignment and test tones to calibrate
output levels.
There are three menus associated with this page: PROCESS & SCA, OUTPUTS and
DELAY & TEST.
Process & SCA Tab
Encoder Mode (Processing)
The stereo encoder may be operated in Stereo or Mono simply by selecting
the desired operating mode with this switch. In the Mono mode the stereo pilot
is turned off.
To change this setting, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel to
choose. Left click again to confirm your choice.
MPX Processing (Processing)
The MPX Processing control sets the input drive level to either the composite
clipper or lookahead limiter as selected. We recommend that the Composite
Clipper Drive be kept under +2.0dB for best MPX spectrum cleanliness (all
composite clippers create MPX spectrum “trash”, even those that claim to cre

ate a tremendous amount of L/R demodulation).
To change the control, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel to
increase or decrease the value. You can also double click on the shown value
and type in a new setting. The range is -6dB to +6dB. Suggested settings are
usually between 0dB and +2dB.
