Multiband AGC and Enhance Meters
To the right of the input meters are seven meters at the
heart of the processing. From left to right they are iAGC
Depth
, the five band section which includes
Low Bass
Gain Reduction, Mid Bass Gain Reduction, Midrange
Gain Reduction, Presence Gain Reduction, High Gain
Reduction, and Bass Clipper Depth.
The iAGC Depth and Bass Clipper display a constant
bar that shows the amount of gain reduction. The five
band metering has two different segments. The constant
bar shows total gain reduction in any band, while the
“peak lines” show additional compression applied to that
particular band. If more aggressive processing is used, the
more frequent those “peak lines” will be seen.
10-Band Limiter Metering
The output of each of the five bands in
the multiband AGC/compressor section is
peak controlled by two limiters for precise
yet inaudible control. Because the limiters
work in conjunction with the settings in the
five band section as part of a system we call
UNIFIED PROCESSING, there is no need
for any type of audio gating which is found
in more traditional processors. Generally,
the 10-band limiter catches only peak over
-
shoots from the five band AGC/Compressor
by a few dB. Under normal operation, the
gain reduction meters of each band should
RARELY indicate more than 3dB of gain
reduction. In some presets that are not aggressive, it is quite possible not to see ANY
gain reduction at times.
The default display is for the FM muliband limiter. To view the HD limiter, there is
an option to switch the metering located below the HD Output meters on the right side
of the GUI. When in View HD, the 10-band HD limiter will be shown.
Final Limiting Meters
The final limiting meters show the gain reduction depth of the
Final
Clipper
(or
HD Limiter
if View HD is checked),
Multipath Limiter
(Stereo Width),
Composite Clipper, and BS.412 Loudness Manager.
It is normal to see between 6dB and 9dB of gain reduction in the
final clipper as well as up to 3dB on composite clipping on aggressive
audio when in View FM mode. To see the final HD limiter metering,
switch to View HD. The option to switch between View FM and View
HD is located below the HD output meters on the right side of the GUI.
The multipath limiter is a dynamic stereo controller and the meter
shows how much reduction of the stereo sound field is occurring in
dB at any given time.
