AirAura X1 / Dec 2016

It is advised that you have an HD modulation monitor capable of measuring the time
alignment offset before you adjust. While many have been able to get it close tuning by
ear, this method is not only time consuming, it can be very public with constant tweaking
of the FM delay. The result will be audible “skipping” on the air.
The best unit we have found to measure the diversity delay offset (as of this writing)
is the Belar FMHD-1. You can find more information about the Belar by visiting
www.belar.com
It should also be noted that the best way to manually set these controls is to use the
Windows based GUI. In that environment, it is possible to double click on either the
SECONDS or SAMPLES window and type in the value you want, rather than the tedious
task of dialing it in. If you are using the Belar FMHD-1, the offset can be displayed in
samples, which is a much more accurate measurement than the time sample.
The Belar unit mentioned above is also capable of automatically maintaining FM and
HD audio sync once the alignment has been performed. The FMHD-1 talks with the X1
over the Ethernet connection (both units need to be on the same network) and corrects for
drift. The error rate is better than 3 samples… most systems are within 1 sample.
If you need to make adjustments from the front panel, there are three controls for the
diversity delay. Seconds, Milliseconds and a fine tune knob to align the FM and HD audio
transmissions via samples.
Tap on parameter you want to adjust. You will see a green ring indicating the control
is active and ready to be changed. Use the front panel knob to increase or decrease the
delay. Pushing in the knob confirms the changes.
NOTE: You will hear the delay change in real time on the FM broadcast.
Control Timeout
The control timeout governs the amount of time the X1 will wait
to revert to the previous setting of a control if no confirmation is
given when changing the control by pressing the knob.
Tap on the knob. You will see a green ring indicating the control is
active and ready to be changed. Use the front panel knob to increase
or decrease the delay. Pushing in the knob confirms the changes.
Security
The X1 is equipped with separate passwords that govern the processing and the output
controls of the hardware. In this way, you can set different passwords and allow some
users access to the sound controls and not the output controls, vice versa or both.
Tapping on the blue SECURITY button on the SYSTEM page brings up the options
to set/change the PROCESSING Password or the OUTPUT Password.
