Master Attack (Basic Control)
The Master Attack control sets the overall speed of the attack for each of the
five bands of processing. Lower numbers indicate the band will make corrections
much faster, extremely important if you are processing for competitive audio.
Higher numbers will lead to a slower response time to correcting audio and is
more suited for formats that don’t require aggressive processing. The range of
the control is 50mS to 3000mS (or 3 seconds). The recommended setting for
most formats is 300mS.
To adjust the value, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel to increase
or decrease the speed. You can also double click on the current value and type
in the new value.
Master Release (Basic Control)
The Master Release control sets the overall recovery speed of each band after
gain has been corrected. Lower numbers indicate the band will recover faster
(and, thus, be more audible) while higher numbers will lead to a slower recovery
time and a more open quality to the audio (at the expense of instantaneous
correction).
The range of the control is 100mS to 7000mS (7 seconds). If iAGC is used,
the recommended release time is 5000mS-7000mS. If iAGC is disabled, a faster
recovery time will probably be desired (2000mS-5000mS).
Even in the most competitive situations, Wheatstone does not recommend
running the Master Release control below 1000mS in any band unless you are specifically
looking for a certain signature.
To adjust the value, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel to increase or
decrease the speed. You can also double click on the current value and type in the new
value.
Band Threshold (Expert Control)
The Band Threshold control determines at what level processing will begin
to take effect in a particular band. Higher threshold settings cause processing to
begin at higher levels and lower threshold settings cause processing to begin at
lower levels. The range for the X1’s threshold controls range is -80 to -50dBFS.
As the band threshold control is an expert control, the recommended setting
for this control is preset dependent. Instead of adjusting this control, Wheatstone
recommends you adjust the Band Mix control instead if you are looking to add
or reduce audio in a particular band.
To adjust the threshold, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel to increase or
decrease the value. You can also double click on the current value and type in the new value.
Ratio (Expert Control)
The Ratio determines the how tightly the multiband processing in this section
controls the audio. The range of adjustment is from 2:1 to 6:1. The Ratio for each
band may be set individually, and the Ratio settings apply to both the Leveler
and Compressor simultaneously.
You will find that the ratio control is set to around 3.00:1 in most bands
in most presets. This is the recommended settings for this control and, under
