The bottom row of controls is the stereo enhancer controls. These help the
user increase the stereo sound field in specific frequency bands as opposed
to other processing designs which raise the overall L-R (difference) signal
to increase stereo enhancement.
The Stereo Enhance controls can be used in combination to satisfy
virtually any style of stereo enhancement. To make the stereo sound field
big, wide, and warm, one might slightly reduce the Band 5 Stereo Enhance
levels while also slightly increasing the Stereo Enhance 2, 3 and 4 Mix levels.
Or, if you just want to have an overall increase in stereo perception,
making increases to just Band 3 and 4 will get you there, without having to
raise the entire L-R signal. This approach has a benefit in that it gives the
same type of stereo enhancement that you’ll find in other processors yet it
also minimizes receivers’ reactions to multipath interference.
To change the mix value, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel
to increase or decrease the value.
NOTE: When adjusting the mix controls, keep in mind that these
outputs either directly feed the 10-band limiters or, if using the insert
loop, the Input of your outboard gear.
If the insert point is NOT used, the stage immediately following is the 10-band limiters.
There is one limiter tailored for FM and one for HD. If you ARE using the insert point,
you should follow the instructions on page 3-12 to properly set up this feature.
