SOUNDOME OPERATION
CHECK
Be sure your hydraulic, M6 and M8 soundomes move
at least 500 mm (19.7 inches) up or down when they
raise or lower. See Page 77.
The M-LS must travel
920 mm (36.2 inches). The M18 hydraulic hoist
travels 800 mm (31.5 in)
The M18 LS has three travel distances, depending on
operator selection.
The hoist motors are calibrated at the factory for
correct travel distance, but you should check it after
installation. Incorrect travel distance means your
soundome may not be going far enough into the water
to allow the soundbeam full clearance.
See pages 77.
Tighten the packing gland only until it slightly weeps
water.
A packing gland that is too tight will create excess
friction on the soundome tube. If the soundome
tube stops before the limit switch, damage to the
hoist motor may occur.
19.1 Operation Check Procedure
For maximum system performance, follow these steps
before returning vessel to the water:
19.1.1
Be sure there is enough room beneath the
boat to lower the soundome.
19.1.2 Turn off power to the hoist system and
console.
19.1.3 Disconnect the upper hoist limit switch
lead (blue) from Terminal 27 on the hoist board.
Once this is disconnected, the hoist will only move
down when powered.
19.1.4 Disconnect the +12VDC lead of the inter-
connect cable from Terminal 2 on the hoist board.
DO NOT let this lead touch any other terminal,
wire or ship’s ground.
